Award-winning company Shareridge progresses large-scale infrastructure projects nationwide while remaining committed to safety and sustainability
Over the past 12 months, innovative civil engineering solutions specialist, Shareridge, has scaled delivery across water, wastewater and wider civil infrastructure. As it celebrates its 20-year anniversary in 2026, the company maintains a strong focus on safe delivery, programme certainty and supporting national priorities such as housing and network resilience, with a key element comprising its continued work under the Uisce Éireann 21/050 Framework. Operations Director, Sergei Nemich, tells Construction & Civil Engineering more about the multi-supplier framework, alongside Shareridge’s other integral projects and achievements.

“The Uisce Éireann 21/050 Framework remains central to the business and involves both large-scale infrastructure and continuous high-volume delivery, including domestic and commercial connections, leakage reduction and network upgrades,” he begins. “In practical terms, this has seen the delivery of over 76km of mains, more than 1700 connections, and over 62,000 work orders, demonstrating both the scale and responsiveness of the operation. Alongside this, we have progressed major projects across multiple regions, including active travel infrastructure in Limerick and the commencement of significant public realm works in Tralee.”
Specifically, Shareridge has progressed its water and wastewater infrastructure projects over the past year, with consistent delivery across both strategic infrastructure and local network improvements. “Recent works have included major upgrades such as the Tullow town centre scheme, where over 2.1km of ageing water mains were replaced to improve reliability, reduce leakage and support future housing and economic demand,” continues Sergei. “We have also delivered a range of leakage reduction and asset renewal projects under Uisce Éireann programmes, including works in Cashel and Laois, focused on improving operational efficiency and reducing water loss to sustainable levels. Larger scale infrastructure, including the Windmill Hill Reservoir and trunk main scheme, continues to demonstrate our capability in delivering complex projects, while ongoing upgrades such as the Clonmel water supply project are strengthening long-term resilience across regional networks.”
Prioritising people
Beyond water and wastewater, the group has expanded delivery across public realm and active travel infrastructure, including The Mill Road Active Travel Scheme in Limerick – delivering 1.4km of high-quality pedestrian and cycle infrastructure, and planting over 280 new trees – and commencement of Phase 3 of the Tralee Pavement Works.
The company’s ability to deliver across multiple sectors and contribute to broader infrastructure goals, such as sustainable transport and urban regeneration, has also led to several award nominations. “Being named Irish Contractor of the Year 2025 is a significant achievement and reflects consistent performance across delivery, safety, innovation and operational excellence,” Sergei elaborates. “Additionally, being shortlisted for Engineering Project of the Year 2026 highlights the technical quality and impact of the Windmill Hill Reservoir project.”
Shareridge has recently been crowned All-Ireland NISO/NISG Safety Quiz Final champions for 2026, highlighting the team’s dedication to excellence and reinforcing Shareridge’s strong culture of workplace safety. In terms of upcoming awards, the business has also been named as a finalist in the Operational Excellence Awards 2026 in the Operational Excellence in Utilities category, as well as being shortlisted in the upcoming ICE Awards. “A key part of our culture is empowering individuals to stop unsafe work and encouraging open communication across all levels of the organisation. This approach ensures that safety is actively managed rather than passively monitored,” highlights Sergei. “Overall, these achievements are a reflection of the strength of our teams, our delivery model and our long-term partnerships with clients such as Uisce Éireann.”

With safety at the forefront of its operations, the business is passionate about employee wellbeing, placing a strong emphasis on developing its people and building long-term capability within the business. “Our apprenticeship programme, delivered in partnership with ATU Sligo and Galway, continues to provide a key pathway for developing future engineers and technical staff,” notes Sergei. “We continue to work closely with Mount Lucas on their utilities trainee programme, supporting practical training. We also work with colleges and universities nationwide and have been shortlisted for Apprenticeship Ireland Employer of the Year. More broadly, we support our workforce through structured training, mentoring, health and wellbeing initiatives, and long-term benefits, ensuring that employees are supported both professionally and personally.” Sustainability is also a vital integration across Shareridge’s project delivery and operational practices. Not only has it achieved ISO 50001 certification, but the company also embeds environmental management into its project delivery, taking measures such as invasive species control, biodiversity protection and environmental planning from early design stages.
Award-winning enterprise
Continuing to deliver major projects under Uisce Éireann is a priority in 2026, where Shareridge will play a huge part in supporting housing, development and network resilience. “We also look forward to the upcoming ICE Awards, where we’ve been nominated in two categories for the following projects – Windmill Hill Reservoir and Trunk mains to Ratoath in the Civil Engineering Category, and the Limerick Urban Centre Revitalisation on O’ Connell Street, in the Public Realm, Public, Heritage or Leisure Building Category,” reveals Sergei.
“A consistent theme across the business is the integration of delivery, safety and community impact. From major infrastructure projects to day-to-day framework works, the focus remains on delivering to a high standard while supporting the communities we work in and contributing to long-term infrastructure development across Ireland,” Sergei concludes. “Being named Irish Contractor of the Year 2025 signifies that we as a company have reached the pinnacle of construction excellence and reliability in Ireland. It acts as a powerful, independent verification of our ability to deliver high-quality, complex projects while maintaining exceptional safety and sustainability standards. Over the next five years, we aim to solidify the company’s position as a leading civil engineering specialist, building on our 2025 Contractor of the Year status to set industry benchmarks.”
