BSN Group drives regional growth with collaborative delivery, diversified expertise, and unwavering commitment to clients and communities

Guided by its core purpose to create places where people can live, work, play, and heal, BSN Group believes that the spaces it creates have the power to shape lives. Founded by current Managing Director, Darren Perry, in 2019, the group has evolved into a trusted construction partner boasting a wealth of regional expertise and national reach.

Today, with Group Commercial Director, Jennifer Reynolds working alongside Darren, BSN Group champions a collaborative approach across the public and private sectors to deliver innovative, top-quality solutions. The company’s success continues to be driven by the relationships, shared values, and commitment to clients and communities that has defined it since day one.

Now in its seventh year of operation, BSN Group is experiencing one of its most dynamic periods to date, as it expands its scope of projects and expertise. Construction & Civil Engineering sits down with the BSN Group team to uncover the key driving factors behind its growth and success.

“I’ve read loads of books about business success and realised that it’s mostly waffle! If you have a good strategic plan in place with a good idea, good people, and you target the right work, you’re good to go,” Darren reveals. “We’ve found that the best thing to do is to just be honest and partner up with clients. As with any contractor, we might not always get it right – we might be late or experience problems – but we’re always very open and honest about it and always come up with a solution.

“As a company that has the agility, mindset, personal service, and technical knowledge to make things happen, there’s a real place in the market for us. That’s been the key driver behind our growth,” he continues. “We’ve achieved between 35 and 40 per cent compound growth year on year; those growth increments increase as we expand, but we’re still following the exact same trajectory that we have since day one.”

Offering a comprehensive scope of technical solutions, BSN Group’s capabilities are distributed across several internal businesses, all united by its shared purpose. The first of them is BSN Construction, led by Scott Blackburn. Specialising in high-quality construction projects across the education, commercial, government, and technical sectors, this division provides safe, client-focused solutions with integrated design and build expertise, robust risk management, and framework-driven pipelines.

Extensive expertise

Operating as an independent business within the group is BSN Electrical, led by Mark Barrow, Head of Electrical Commercial, and Dan Jones, Head of Electrical Operations. As the specialist electrical contractor of the group, the division provides fully integrated, sustainable electrical systems within construction programs, adhering to B 7671 and Part L regulations to prioritise safety and quality.

With BSN Healthcare – led by Jennifer – patient care, safety, and wellbeing is paramount. From hospitals to specialist care units, the business creates environments that support both medical professionals and patients, using innovative designs and advanced technologies to enhance the healing process. Employing a similar emphasis on care and attention to detail is BSN Heritage. Led by Richard Sapcote, who brings 30 years of experience in heritage conservation, the division’s expertise spans various building types, from stonework and timber-framed structures to Victorian terracotta and postmodern listed properties.

Community commitment

Finally, BSN Fast Track is the division that helps to tie it all together. Headed by Andy Hall, the business acts as a dynamic, forward-thinking specialist in refurbishment and fit-out projects across the education, commercial, and public sectors, with particular expertise in the SEND sector with EDBS certified staff.

BSN Group’s adaptability and ongoing diversification continue to be key differentiators in the competitive UK market. The group’s most recent acquisition of BSN Engineering represented a natural, strategic extension of its existing capabilities, but the rest of its growth has been all organic.

Amidst this expansion, however, is a core, people-centric philosophy that underpins every facet of BSN Group’s operations – one that extends beyond its job sites and into its wider communities.

“CSR is a massive thing for us. We’re fortunate to be where we are as a business and we don’t forget that,” Darren says. “Thankfully, especially within BSN Electrical, we’re in a position where we can give out a lot of apprenticeships, so we really try to push that. As well as developing school and college leavers, we regularly develop our mature staff, whether they want to retrain for a role where they are better suited or progress through the business. It’s great to be able to offer those opportunities to people.

“We’re also passionate about supporting our communities. In 2025, we climbed Mount Kilimanjaro for the Children’s Hospital, and Jennifer completed the London Marathon in 2026.”

Organic growth

Above all else, a clear sense of purpose, honest partnerships, and a commitment to investing in people have been the foundations of BSN Group’s remarkable success to date. As the group continues to broaden its expertise through its five specialist divisions, while maintaining the agility and collaborative approach that have defined it since 2019, it is well-positioned to capitalise on new opportunities across the UK. Whether delivering complex construction projects, creating specialist healthcare environments, preserving heritage assets, or supporting the next generation of industry talent, BSN Group remains focused on leaving a legacy for its clients, communities, and the built environment. With ambitious leadership, sustained organic growth, and a people-first ethos at its core, the group’s future looks every bit as promising as its impressive journey so far.

“To continue on our growth trajectory, we decided that we needed to invest heavily in the front end of the business, such as in our pre-construction and bidding teams. It was a real leap of confidence, but we’re now at that stage where that investment is starting to show returns,” Darren affirms. “We’re now structuring the business so that we have the capability to move forward in a controlled way, particularly with our systems and processes. By bringing in new heads for all our businesses, we’re already moving in the right direction.

“In terms of geography, we’re confident that we’d like to remain a Midlands-based contractor but will travel for the right jobs. We want to continue to invest in the Midlands; opening our Stoke office, for example, has been really good for us,” Darren says, concluding our conversation optimistic for the future.

“Hopefully, we’ll come out the back of 2026 with good growth, good structures, and good systems, but also with the right balance of public and private sector workloads that we want to achieve. For the first time, we’ve got a pipeline right through into 2028, which is incredible for an SME. Having that work in advance has given us greater confidence in our growth as we go forward.”
