Driven by its core values, BUKO Group is setting the standard for the next generation of temporary traffic and safety management

With more than 1000 specialists working across four countries, BUKO ensures that every project, from local roadworks to major infrastructure, runs safely and efficiently. Every day, its teams help clients keep people and traffic moving, guided by one clear principle: everyone goes home safe.

Founded in the Netherlands in 1991, BUKO has grown from a family business into a European organisation recognised for its quality, professionalism, and strong safety culture. What began as a local company evolved into leading expertise in temporary traffic management through BUKO Infrasupport. Reliability, innovation, and care for people have been part of BUKO’s DNA from the very beginning.

Strong at home and abroad

BUKO’s story starts close to home. By steadily growing from a regional player into the Dutch market leader, the company built its strength on long-term relationships, operational excellence, and a deep focus on safety, quality and results.

“Our commercial DNA has set us apart from the competition. We listen to our customers and strive to understand their needs.” Robert explains. “It taught us to be customer-focused, flexible, and efficient – qualities that still define us today.”

That solid foundation opened the door to Europe. In 2023, Equistone Partners Europe became BUKO’s majority shareholder, marking the start of a new chapter focused on international growth. Together with Equistone’s support, BUKO is now realising its ambition to become the next-generation European market leader in temporary traffic and safety management.

Growing by trust and ambition

BUKO’s growth combines strong organic performance with targeted acquisitions. Over the past two years, the company has entered new markets in the UK, Germany, and Sweden. Recent acquisitions include Road Traffic Solutions, Hooke Highways, BVT Bremer Verkehrstechnik, Road Rental, and most recently Keltic Traffic Management. Each company strengthens BUKO’s European footprint and brings valuable local expertise but always within a shared set of values.

“We only partner with businesses that share our DNA of professionalism, entrepreneurship, and genuine care for people,” says Robert. “We’re not chasing size for the sake of it: we’re building a family of strong local companies united by safety and results.”

Safety as a shared culture

Safety is not a department or a slogan at BUKO; it’s the foundation of how the company operates. Every process, decision, and innovation starts with the same question: does it make our people, clients and road users safer?

“My biggest nightmare is one of our colleagues not coming home at night,” Robert says. “That’s why safety comes first in everything we do. It’s part of who we are: visible on every site, in every decision, and in how we look after one another.”

This mindset has made BUKO a certified Great Place To Work. The company continuously invests in its people through training, digital tools, and leadership programmes that strengthen both safety and personal growth.

“We believe success begins with people who feel safe, valued, and connected,” Robert adds. “We celebrate achievements, learn from each other, and make sure everyone feels part of the team. That’s what drives our results.”

Raising the bar across Europe

With strong local teams in the Netherlands, the UK, Germany, and Sweden, BUKO is building a European brand that stands for safety, quality, and reliability. Its focus on both organic growth and strategic acquisitions ensures sustainable progress, step by step and always with purpose.

Looking ahead, BUKO continues to invest in innovation, digitalisation, and its people, staying true to its mission to make every road, every site, and every work day safer.

“This journey is not just about growth,” Robert concludes. “It’s about building a company people are proud to work for and that clients trust without hesitation. Together we’re raising the bar for our industry and we’ll have fun doing it. That’s what we do. That’s who we are. We are BUKO.”
