How MP Group is supporting the UK’s sustainable future though innovative energy efficiency solutions As a multidisciplinary construction group, MP Group specialises in energy efficiency, fit out, maintenance, mechanical and electrical, fire and security, and renewables, with services covering the entire UK. Established in 2012 as MP Rendering Ltd., the business has since diversified into other areas and today serves both public and private sector clients, including local authorities, businesses, housing associations, energy companies, and large retail clients. To learn more, we’re joined by company Owners and Directors, Robert McLarrie Senior, Robert McLarrie Junior, Nicky Redpath, and Przemyslaw Pruszczynski. “From the inception of the company in 2012, our vision was always to grow the business from sub-contracting into a main contractor providing high-quality, innovative, and sustainable energy efficiency solutions,” opens Robert Senior. “From our early days as a small but ambitious company, we’ve grown steadily to become a leading player in the energy efficiency and decarbonisation sector. We have achieved a turnover of more than £25 million per annum over the last two years and are on track to reach in excess of £30 million this financial year, which is testament to our consistent growth, strong leadership, and commitment to delivering results. We currently employ over 200 professionals, supported by a network of subcontractors that share our commitment to quality and excellence.” Robert Senior, elaborates: “Our company is built on a foundation of expertise, reliability, and a customer-centric approach. From the outset, our management team had a strategic vision that targeted sustainable growth rather than rapid, uncontrolled expansion. By carefully selecting projects that align with our expertise, we’ve scaled effectively while maintaining quality. However, simply securing projects is not enough; we must also deliver operational excellence. Our ability to complete projects on time and within budget has earned us a strong reputation, as clients appreciate our quality control processes and attention to detail. “Phenomenal growth and awareness of sustainability have further fuelled our growth,” he adds. “The UK Government’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 has created an urgent need for energy efficiency solutions, and we’ve positioned ourselves as a trusted partner for delivering these. By setting clear goals and continuously adapting to market trends, we’ve been able to stay ahead of the curve. We’ve also invested in reducing our own carbon footprint, which further resonates with our environmentally conscious clients and partners.” Nicky adds: “In terms of services, MP Group provides a comprehensive range of energy efficiency and maintenance services that help clients reduce carbon footprints, maintain assets, and result in lower energy costs. The services fall into five main categories: insulation, renewable energy, heating and mechanical, energy efficiency upgrades, and maintenance. The company’s renewable systems include solar photovoltaic installations, battery storage solutions, solar thermal systems, and heat battery technology. “Heating and mechanical covers air source heat pumps, ground source heat pumps, and gas boiler upgrades to name just a few,” Nicky explains. “Taking a holistic approach to efficiency, our energy efficiency upgrade division offers window and door replacements, smart energy management systems, and whole-home retrofit solutions. Lastly, the company’s maintenance offering includes multi-trade planned and reactive maintenance, renewable system maintenance, property refurbishments and renovations, re-roofing projects, and replacement schemes.” Enhancing efficiency Turning to current projects, Robert Junior shares details about the company’s recent contract wins. “Securing places on the UK-wide £660 million LHC Retrofit and Decarbonisation (N9) framework, as well as the £380 million PFH Scotland Planned Works framework, provides us with a substantial platform for growth,” he says. “These frameworks grant us more direct access to a broader range of projects, enabling us to undertake more large-scale initiatives while consistently maintaining our high standards of quality and efficiency. “In addition to these frameworks, we’re actively investing in cutting-edge technologies to enhance both our service offering and sustainability efforts. We’re also advancing our capabilities in retrofit solutions, ensuring that our projects not only meet current demands but also contribute to a sustainable future.” Given its success in recent years, the company is now looking to grow its portfolio across the UK. “Our plan to expand into the North East and the Midlands is driven by our commitment to enhancing efficiency and strengthening our presence in key markets,” Nicky explains. “We recently opened an office in Haddington, East Scotland, which has significantly improved our delivery efficiency in that region. We intend to replicate this success by establishing similar offices in the North East and the Midlands, enabling us to offer faster response times and localised project management to ensure we meet specific client needs. “By having a stronger local presence, we can form closer relationships with clients, fostering trust and collaboration, which allows us to better understand and address their unique challenges and requirements. We also plan on recruiting and training local talent to not only support the local economy but also ensure our teams are well versed in regional nuances and best practices.” Innovation excellence It’s clear that sustainability is of great importance to MP Group and its leaders. “Our approach to sustainability encompasses several key aspects,” Robert Junior states. “Firstly, we prioritise sustainable procurement by sourcing materials and services from suppliers who adhere to environmentally sustainable practices. This ensures our projects are built with high-quality, eco-friendly materials that minimize environmental impact. “We are committed to carbon reduction in our operations, continuously striving to lower our footprint through initiatives like investing in electric vehicles, optimising energy use, and implementing waste reduction strategies. Our long-term commitment is exemplified by our ongoing efforts to innovate and adopt industry best practices. We are dedicated to integrating sustainable solutions in every aspect of the business from project planning to execution.” To close, Robert Junior turns his attention to what 2025 holds for the business. “MP Group is poised for a year of robust growth and strategic advancements in 2025. Our order book is strong for the year ahead, and coupled with recent contract extensions, will ensure the security of our core delivery and set a solid foundation for our operations. We’re excited to deliver major projects under our secured frameworks, which will drive significant progress and innovation across various sectors. Nicky also added that one of MP Group’s key focus areas this year aside from finalising our new offices is scaling our solar and battery storage operations to enhance our renewable energy capabilities.” Looking further afield, Robert Senior concludes: “By 2030, I’d like to see MP Group at the forefront the UK’s decarbonisation market with a national presence through regional offices and a leading position in renewable technologies. Offering innovation, excellence, and sustainable solutions, we remain committed to supporting local authorities across the UK, not only on their net-zero journey but also maintaining investments upon project completion. We’re excited about the future, and we will continue to leverage opportunities to drive innovation, improve energy efficiency, and deliver exceptional results for our clients and communities.” www.mpgroupuk.com 3 June 20252 June 2025 Iain Fire & Security, Robert McLarrie Senior, Robert McLarrie Junior, Nicky Redpath, Przemyslaw Pruszczynski, Maintenance, 221, MP Group, Fit Out 6 min read SustainabilityInsights
