ISG Awarded Contract for Anchor Line Building Conversion, Dundee’s Science Lab Investment, and Mental Health Initiative in Construction Industry
Hotel conversion
ISG has been awarded a £5.5 million contract to convert the iconic Anchor Line building on St Vincent Place, Glasgow to create a contemporary 64-bed aparthotel for The White Building Development Company Limited.
Whilst several original features, including glazed tiles, terrazzo flooring, timber wall panelling, safes and fireplaces will remain, ISG will comprehensively refurbish the existing six floors, stripping out fixtures and fittings within the building to make way for the installation of both new mechanical and electrical services and a passenger lift. The contractor will then create 64 studio- and onebed- apartments, delivered to a high-specification. Externally, as well as replacing the building’s windows with high-performance timber and metal units, ISG will add a single-storey recessed rooftop extension.
Dundee development
A £3.5m investment to create cutting edge science laboratories at Abertay University in Dundee will place students at the forefront of food, forensics and biomedical sciences. The suite of labs includes four different areas to support the teaching and research of the School of Science, Engineering and Technology, as well as external business projects. The Consumer Experience Laboratory is unique in Scotland and comprises 12 climatically controlled booths designed for the sensory analysis of food. A New Product Development Laboratory and a teaching area featuring two new labs are also included as is a multi-purpose learning/ social area.
