Norris Electrical Services supplies the industrial and domestic industries with a range of engineering and contracting solutions

With over 30 years experience as industrial, commercial and domestic installation maintenance specialists, Norris Electrical Services Limited prides itself on the varied range of products and services it can provide to a wide customer base. The company employs skilled electrical engineers and contractors who understand the importance of quality provision and customer service. Eileen Norris, managing director explains: “Norris Electrical has been trading for 38 years and we operate a number of different services. Our abilities include maintenance and project design, and installation; our design and installation service covers power distribution, HV/LV mains upgrades, general and specialist lighting. Further than this, as well as having an emergency response and 24-hour cover service, we also supply a range of emergency systems including; fire alarm systems, door access and security systems, intruder alarms, emergency lighting, CCTV, telecommunications, data-network and nurse call systems. We also provide portable appliance testing and NICEIC (subsidiary of The Electrical Safety Council) testing and inspection. We have a very varied range of products.”

Based mainly in the UK providing services nationally, the company has a number of large clients, including a food distribution company. “We have also completed work in prisons and another large sector for us is in the domestic sphere; we do a lot of work with builders and housing associations, contracts for kitchen and bathroom refurbishments and the full rewiring of houses. Our ultimate strength is the fact that Norris is a well-established national contractor, with a successful track record dating back over 30 years. Our continued level of accomplishment is down to our commitment to a high level of customer service and the maintenance of a partnership approach that places our customers squarely at the centre of our operations,” Eileen explains.

With the current financial climate in the UK showing no signs of change, most businesses are facing challenges. Eileen notes that Norris Electrical Services is not exempt from these issues but she believes the company will remain prosperous in the future: “The opportunities are there – we’re currently involved in two large lighting projects and we’re very busy, though still looking to take on more projects. This year has been difficult because many contracts have been held back and start dates are not being released until next year. It is quite a hard situation when you are told a contract will appear, and you look into taking on more staff only to find it is pushed back. Though the economic situation is not good, I believe we will come out of it and we’ve still kept busy throughout the year.”

Resolving the issue of the lack of skilled workers in the industry is also something Eileen remains positive about: “We’ve just taken on an apprentice and we’ll probably be taking on more in the New Year. We are a company that has always liked to have apprentices because they can learn and work their way through Norris Electrical, and then they’ll stay with us. It means that they learn our way of working, starting from day one.” This helps Norris Electrical in maintaining the assurance of a skilled and precise service.

Though the company lucratively supplies a range of clients, and its membership of NICEIC and Construction Line guarantees its quality provision to its customers, Eileen still sees room for expansion: “I’d like to see the company grow in the industrial side. Although we are already established in that industry I would like to see it expand, as we are so successful in the domestic sector.”
