Bristol’s Filwood Green Business Park has achieved its latest BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ rating, placing it as one of the most environmentally friendly industrial buildings in the UK.
Five star rating
The Considerate Constructors Scheme has announced a new star ratings system, and the new US Embassy, which is currently under construction in Nine Elms in Wandsworth, has achieved the top 5 star rating. The site, which is being constructed by B.L. Harbert International, in conjunction with Sir Robert McAlpine, is due to open in 2017.
£45 million contract
Skanska is to construct the Copyright Building in Fitzrovia. Designed by Piercy & Company, the 9800 sqm scheme will be a mixture of retail and offices. The ground floor will provide 1850sqm of retail space. There will be 7950sqm of fully fitted out category ‘A’ offices across seven floors with two floors of roof terraces.
Aqueduct update
Leading construction and engineering firm J. Murphy & Sons Limited (JMS) has begun piling work on a 100- year-old aqueduct as part of a multi-million pound project to upgrade and modernise the Elan Valley aqueduct in mid-Wales for Severn Trent. This part of the scheme will see the creation of three new tunnels at Bleddfa, Knighton and Nantmel.
